A 34-year-old man, Ifeanyi Chukwu, who allegedly assaulted his neighbour, Chibuzor Ubachukwu, was on Thursday docked before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Chukwu, who resides at No. 11 Ojoafeje St., Sari Iganmu, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of assault.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Gabriel Ekundayo, told the court that the accused committed the offences at No. 11, Ojoafeje St., Sari Iganmu Orile, Lagos, at about 2:00am on April 5.
Ekundayo said the accused unlawfully assault one of his neighbours, Chibuzor Ubachukwu, by beating him with fist blows.
He said that the accused, who lives in the same compound with the complainant got into an argument over parking space. He said during the argument, the accused unlawfully hit the complainant with a padlock key on his right eye and caused him injury.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 170 and 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty. The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. M.I. Dan-Oni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
Dan-Oni said the surety must be blood relation of the accused gainfully employed and should provide evidence of tax payments and adjourned the case till April 21 for mention.
