Hoodlums have attacked a Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) airspace facility in Lagos, leaving a police inspector and a private security guard injured.
The incident occurred around 5:05 a.m. on September 25 during a heavy downpour, when about 20 suspected vandals stormed the site armed with cutlasses, axes, tiles, and other weapons.
Police sources said Inspectors Dada Fisayo and Francis Azurunwa, who were on duty at the time, came under attack but managed to repel the assailants.
However, taking advantage of the rain and gaps in the facility’s perimeter, another group of hoodlums made away with two 7.5KVA inverters and several lengths of cable.
Inspector Fisayo sustained injuries but has since been treated and is due for discharge, while a private guard, Babatunde Makinde, suffered a deep cut on his left hand and is receiving treatment.
Police detectives, led by the Divisional Police Officer, have visited the scene, and efforts are underway to track down the suspects and recover the stolen equipment.
