Two ladies have reportedly drowned at the popular Elegushi beach,Lagos after being carried away by heavy tide at the beach with no safety measures in place.
The two ladies,were said to be graduates of Covenant University and were at a friends birthday party on the beach before the incident.
According to the Instagram account of one of the friends of the deceased, Ginikaokolo, 24-year-old Funmi (left) and 27-year-old Shola (right) who are both graduates from Covenant University with degrees in International Relation and were on the verge of completing their Masters in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, lost their lives at a friend’s birthday party in Elegushi Beach yesterday.
The young Ladies were said to have been carried away by the heavy tide of the Beach water and there were no safety measures like an emergency medical unit, patrol unit or even life guards to assist them. Their friends are crying out to appropriate government agencies to look in this situation which is now becoming common in Nigeria and stop such from re-occurring.
