Trader Jailed 2 years For Stealing Phone

A Magistrate’s Court in Jos, on Friday sentenced a 25-year-old trader, Manasseh Dada to 2 years in imprisonment for trespassing and stealing phone from a school library.

The Magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, summarily tried and sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to the charge.

Bokkos in her judgment, gave the convict an option of fine of N100,000 or spend 2 years in prison.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ibrahim Gokwat told the court that the case was reported at the “B” Division Police Station on March 28, by one Silas Gambi, who is the complainant.

Gokwat said that the convict trespassed into the school library, where the complaint kept the phone and stole it, before he was caught and the phone recovered.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law.
