Big Brother Naija star Nengi has met with the first lady of Bayelsa State Gloria Diri after reports saying she has been replaced by the first female first-class graduate from the Faculty of Law of Bayelsa State-owned Niger Delta University (NDU) Ebizi Eradiri as the face of girl child, Newsextra24 reports.

The 23-year-old shared pictures of herself and Mrs Diri on Twitter on Wednesday.

“Had an amazing time as usual with my Mummy… Mrs Gloria Diri, Bayelsa State First Lady,” she wrote.

Ms Eradiri was named face of Bayelsa girl child by Governor Douye Diri on Monday.

This followed backlash from Bayelsans after Big Brother Naija star Nengi was given the role in November 2020.

According to a statement by the governor’s chief press secretary Daniel Alabrah, Eradiri was offered scholarship for further studies and employment at the NDU law faculty.

Diri announced this to the young lawyer and her father Boloupaye Eradiri at the Government House, Yenagoa.

The governor also dismissed speculations, particularly in the social media, about his administration’s choice of honouring Nengi while refusing to recognise Eradiri.

“Today has brought to an end speculations, especially in the new media, about our refusal to honour Barr. Eradiri while we have honoured Nengi of the Big Brother Naija fame. This is a blatant lie,” he said.

Nengi on Tuesday congratulated Eradiri and promised to work together on forging better welfare for the girl child in Bayelsa.

“Congratulations to Barr. Ebizi Eradiri. It’s amazing how you were able to pull that thru! Special thanks to my Governor for also finding her worthy for the honour. It is without doubt that we will both work together to see how we can front for a better welfare for the Girl child,” she wrote
