A man convicted of murdering a 4-year-old girl was publicly hung at a bus terminal in western Iran on Monday, a report said.
The man was sentenced to death having been found guilty of raping and killing the girl before hiding her body under a highway bridge in May.
The decision to employ the death penalty received backing from the country’s highest court due to the heinous nature of the crime.
In Iran, cases involving murder, sexual assault, armed robbery and drug-trafficking can lead to a death sentence, with child rape and murder nearly always invoking capital punishment.
