Governor Godwin Obaseki’s Legacy: A Litany Of Failed Promises, “Alaghiyeke Conferences And Empty Boasts

GOVERNOR GODWIN OBASEKI’S LEGACY: A LITANY OF FAILED PROMISES, “ALAGHIYEKE” CONFERENCES AND EMPTY BOASTS.

Of the many big mouth promises made by Gov Obaseki, examples

1) Gele Gele Seaport

2) 200,000 jobs

3) Train service from Okpella, through Auchi, through Ekpoma to Benin

4) University of Innovation, Benin

5) Industrial Park, Benin

6) New international airport, Jattu Uzairue

To mention just a few.

Having failed spectacularly in fulfilling these litany of big mouth promises, Some had expected that going to Sapele road, Benin city to promise the youths of that axis rehabilitation of a small stretch of road, to ease their penury last year, would be easy to fulfill.

However, true to type the Governor again dropped his promise and left it there, one year down the line, the youths where back on the road protesting again.

When you juxtapose this with the yearly ‘alaghiyeke’ conferences funded with Edo state tax payers money with nothing to show on ground, you’d be hard pressed to think that when God was giving Governors to Rivers, Lagos, Borno and even Kogi states God forgot to include Edo in the memo.

Today, Edo compares with the very worst governed states in Nigeria on all indices including non payment of salaries.

It is a shame!
