Seven members of a family,including a new born baby,father, mother, grandmother, a daughter and two boys,were mysteriously burnt to death in an overnight fire sparked by a lit candle,on Ado Street,Surulere,lagos state,neighbours said.
An eight year old daughter fortunately survived;though burnt,she hid in the toilet before residents of the area saved her.

The fire,according to rescuers,started around 12 midnight and burnt only the self-contain residence of the Ogbus,out of two other self-contain rooms and two other single rooms in the compound,without any neighbour knowing about it.
It was the noise of a person outside the compound that alerted residents of the street to the fire but before they could help,three generations of a family had beenn wiped out.
The toilet where the girl hid
According to an eye-witnesss,the candle was lit because electricity had been cut from the house,although there was power in the area when the incident happened.
The father,Mr Kelechi Ogbu deals in cotton materials at the popular market in yaba,while the wife sells foodstuffs at lawanson, Surulere.
The injured girl is receiving treatment at LUTH.

The grandmother was said to have come from the Village in Enugu to help nurse the baby who will mark 21 days this Saturday,September 12. The family had planned a thanksgiving for this weekend.
