AHMED Mahmoud Gumel, a former Jigawa State Deputy Governor and one of the All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial aspirants in 2023, has resigned from the APC.
This was revealed in a letter of resignation.
The former Deputy Governor signed the letter, which was addressed to the APC chairman of Galangamawa Ward in Gumel Local Government Area.
The letter reads: “With all sense of respect and regards as a chairman, your person and your party to notify you of my resignation from All Progressives Congress (APC).
“I’m constrained to take this decision due to the obvious intra party conflict, disunity and lack of commitment and confidence on the party stalwarts towards the success of the party in the forthcoming general elections.”
Ahmed Gumel assured the APC that he would continue to consult with party stakeholders on any future plans, and he wished all party members success in their current and future endeavors.
During the administration of former Governor Ibrahim Saminu Turaki, Ahmed served as commissioner of finance. On the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP platform, he also served as Deputy Governor under former Governor Sule Lamido.
He left the PDP for the All Progressives Congress, APC, a few months before the 2015 general elections.
