EFCCGATE: Lamorde denies allegation, says Agency plan to audit account from 2003 till date

The embattled head of the anti-graft agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC),Ibrahim Lamorde has denied the allegation leveled against him, saying ‎it is mischievous and lack merit.
Lamorde said all the money the agency has recovered since it’s formation in 2003 till now plus funding from the government is not up to the $5 billion he is accused of diverting.‎
He said: “How can we divert an amount we don’t have”.‎
He said the agency will soon reveal the audit of its finances being done by a reputable company, from 2003 till 2015 and anybody not satisfied can challenge them.
He said this in the face of a perceived Senate Committee hearing on a petition submitted to the Senate by a security consultant,George Uboh, who is under investigation for selling government properties.
Lamorde is accused of losing £3.2 billion, approximately‎ $5 billion.
‎In his interview monitored on BBC,he said it is a smear campaign from an accused that is being investigated which shows that ‘the case shouldn’t be taken serious’.
Sen Peter Nwaoboshi,an ally of the Senate President,Bukola Saraki,is the head of the Senate committee investigating the petition that most Nigerians view as a fight-back from the Senate leadership under investigations by the anti-graft agency.‎
‎Saraki has denied that there is an ulterior motive in the investigation against Lamorde, although he is facing an eight-count charge of corruption from when he headed the nnow defunct Société General bank and his tenure as Governor of Kwara State for eight years.
InJuly,Saraki’swife,Toyin, accompanied by serving Senators was invited by the anti-‎graft agency toexplain the inflow of funds to companies she has vested interest in when she was the first lady of Kwara State‎
In an aside, the Inspector-General of the Nigeria Police Force,mr Arase has begun move to have Lamorde back to the Police as he has asked that all officers deployed to the agency should be recalled to the force.
Lamorde was deployed to EFCC from the police.
