Bursar, Driver arrested for theft of N3m GCU money

THE Bursar and a driver of Government College, Ughelli, GCU, have been arrested and detained at the Ughelli “A” Division police station in connection with an alleged disappearance of N3million belonging to the school.

“The Bursar, Sando Richard and Driver, Aaron Isokari, were both arrested following investigations surrounding the incident,” a senior official attached to the Ughelli “A” Division police station told Vanguard.

poloibrahim-idrisAccording to the source, “contrary to reports that the staff were robbed at gunpoint at Oduaran street junction by Post Office road, Ughelli, the said N3million mysteriously disappeared following an alleged altercation between the GCU staff and the driver of a Lexus Jeep who was said to have hit the white Hilux pick-up conveying the staff who had gone to a new generation back to withdraw the money.

“When the Lexus Jeep hit the school’s pick-up, the staff came down and engaged the driver of the jeep in an argument, only for them to return to the vehicle and realized that the money has disappeared,” the source stated. Confirming the arrest of the staff when contacted, the principal of the school, Mr. Godspower Odenema said: “As a result of the incident, we reported the case to the police and they arrested the Bursar and driver for questioning on the matter.”
