The noises coming out of the Arsenal camp after their 2-1 defeat at home to Swansea don’t sound too positive.
The shock result represented the Gunners’ third consecutive loss in all competitions and their second in the Premier League in four days.
They are now six points behind league leaders Leicester and their season appears to be on the brink of it’s annual collapse. The team have won just three matches from their last 11 matches in all competitions and there are question marks surrounding the players’ mentality.
After the match, manager Arsene Wenger admitted that his team are currently suffering from a confidence crisis.
“It looks a bit like that, yes,” he said.
“It’s a very disappointing result and the players are very down.”
SANCHEZ’S CONFESSION
And star man Alexis Sanchez has echoed Wenger’s words, by admitting that the players lack belief and hunger to win the title.
“We lack self-belief, that we can actually be champions,” he told Directv Sports, as per The Guardian.
“I think we can win the Premier League with the players we have. That said, we lack a certain hunger. We need to step out on to the pitch as if we’re already 1-0 up.
“I remember a game against Manchester United last year. The lads looked hungry for silverware as we took to the pitch. We crushed them in the first 20 minutes and went 3-0 up. We were hungry and brimming with confidence that day.”

Sanchez and his teammates looked as though they would capitalise on Leicester’s 2-2 draw at home on West Brom the previous night when they went 1-0 up after 15 minutes against Swansea.
It was the Chilean that created the goal with a lovely dinked pass for Campbell to convert with a beautiful half-volley.
But the game turned on it’s head when they allowed Wayne Routledge to equalise before half-time before Ashley Williams bundled in the winner with 15 minutes remaining.
Sanchez hit a post in the first-half whilst smashing the crossbar with a free-kick in the second-half, as he looked to score his first Premier League goal since October 17.
The night would have been a lot worse for Arsenal had Tottenham and Manchester City won but, they too, were dealt blows to their title bid after losing to West Ham and Liverpool respectively.
Arsenal fans will be hoping their side can regain their hunger and confidence ahead of Saturday’s huge north London derby.
Wenger’s side trail Spurs by three points, knowing a defeat will realistically end their title bid.
The Gunners still face tough away trips to Everton, West Ham and Manchester City to overcome if they want to win their first Premier League title since 2004.
